Winter is in full-force this February—Keep your home warm and comfortable and find lots of winter necessities at Nightingale’s Tully Lake Hardware. Located right in the Village of Tully, Nightingale’s has everything from hardwood stove pellets and coal ( available by the ton and by the bag) to shovels, rock salt, tube sand, and DryShod Boots. Nightingale’s is currently carrying Timber Heat hardwood Pellets, and Leheigh Valley rice & nut coat, and offers the option for home delivery. Looking for a more efficient method for clearing snow this year? Stop in and see the selection of Husqvarna Snow Throwers in stock at Nightingale’s- you’ll find just the right model that fits your snow clearing challenge.

Winter is also a very popular time of year to feed wild birds- and Nightingale’s has a large selection of bird feeders and seed mixes including New York State made- Aspen Song Bird Seeds. Did you know February is National Wild Bird Feeding Month? Below are some bird feeding tips to help attract a variety of birds to your feeders:

  • Want more songbirds? Add feeders to provide more feeding locations. If the typical feeder has four seed ports, adding two more feeders means twelve birds at a time can feast on Aspen Song.
  • Want more variety? Offer different mixes in different feeder types. Understand the food preferences and foraging habits of different groups of seed-eaters, and provide choices to them.
  • Become a dependable “food patch” by keeping feeders full all year long. Seed-eating songbirds return to a productive, natural seed source until the food is completely consumed before moving on. By keeping your feeders filled, they will continue to return to your yard for sustenance.
  • Keep your feathered guests healthy. Protect seed from the elements, keep it fresh, clean feeders regularly, rake up and remove seed hulls.
  • Get to know your guests. Read about each of the different birds common in our area by visiting “Species Profiles” at www.aspensong.com.
