Two years ago, we had a website designed in hopes of building our sales via the Internet. As time passed, it was clear that, while our website was visually appealing and very informative, it wasn’t serving its true purpose—- as an online storefront.

With a clearer picture of what we wanted to offer customers, we set out researching online shopping experiences and diagramed a new website. Then we researched e-commerce sites (which are services that specialize in designing and “housing” online stores). After several “free trials” and one paid “trial,” we signed up for the e-commerce site that best suited our needs, which included ease of use, clean and simple design, unlimited categories, subcategories and products. Additionally, we needed a shopping cart which would integrate with our store’s point of sale system/merchant accounts, a real-time shipping component so online shoppers could pay for product and shipping all at once, and multiple product views (very important when selling antiques online!).Visit Website to know more about shipping services. The best way to know more about the integration of shipping with the ERP systems, is to visit site and read the article.

This week, despite not having a lot of our products/antiques uploaded yet, www.thesecondknob.com went live. We have a handful of items uploaded and continue to add more gifts and antiques on a daily basis. Customers of the new online store will enjoy the opportunity to save their cart, purchase gift certificates and even request free gift wrapping!

Mid-March, we will begin a big promotion of the website on facebook, Instagram and Twitter, with the help of this Homepage. We will be offering [awesome!!!] giveaways for social media users who are willing to share/retweet/repost our website ads and help drive new (out of town) customers to our site. If you use any of these social media sites, be sure to like/follow The Second Knob. If you need any help locating our social media accounts, simply ask Shana!

We hope that you will all take a moment to visit our site and provide us with some feedback! Keep in mind that we are continuing to add merchandise and that the completed site will have thousands of products!
