Batter up! It’s spring time so that means baseball and softball are in full swing! Hi, I am Hannah Baker the Tompkins County Dairy Princess. If you’re an athlete whether it is baseball, softball or any other sport what drink do you drink to replenish your body after a practice or a game? Do you grab a Gatorade or bottle of water? Did you know that you should be drinking a glass of chocolate milk?
When your body is exercising it loses important nutrients that it needs and can be replenished with chocolate milk. Low fat chocolate milk has the key electrolytes, protein, carbs and fluid that your body needs after a workout. Electrolytes help to replenish what is lost in sweat, protein helps to build muscles, carbs are to refuel muscles and fluids are to help rehydrate the body. With nine essential nutrients that help athletes recover better and the delicious taste, it seems that chocolate milk should be the number one choice. So remember after a game or practice to drink chocolate milk for a better recovery, and it counts as a part of your three servings of dairy a day!
