Creature Feature – You’ve Got a Friend in Me

How many of us can claim a human companion who is completely selfless, loyal, and devoted? Someone that is 100 percent present whenever we need them, day or night, is happy to go wherever we lead without complaint, holds no grudge even if we neglect or mistreat them, and loves us guilelessly, without self-serving purpose? While such human companions might be quite rare, those sharing their hearts and homes with dogs enjoy this very type of pure friendship every single day.
Dogs can help us to grow, heal, and move past dark places in our lives. They teach us about commitment, trust, and other valuable life lessons, and also encourage us to explore new routines and activities. Most of all, dogs give us the chance to love and be loved. Perhaps now is the right time to consider adopting a homeless dog – there are many wonderful dogs needing a second chance at life and love – and one is out there now, hoping to be your new best friend. Just be sure to recognize and honor the commitment involved so you can be a worthy friend.
“You’ve got a friend in me…if you’ve got troubles, I’ve got ‘em too. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you. We stick together and can see it through. Cause you’ve got a friend in me.”
