August 3 – CCHS Lunch & Learn: “New York Central College: An Experiment in Education in McGrawville 1848-1860”

12:10pm to 12:50pm, Cortland County Historical Society, 25 Homer Ave., Cortland. McGraw Historical Society President Carl Kimberly and his wife Mary, McGraw historian, will be presenting this program on this very progressive college that was established in McGraw. The concept of black education was not new in the 1850s. Today we will learn how McGrawville became involved in a college open to black and white students, male and female, and taught by both black and white professors.
