Title: “The Eye of the Whale: A Rescue Story” by Jennifer O’Connell
Description: Through spare, lyrical prose and stunning illustrations, O’Connell recreates the dramatic 2005 rescue of a humpback whale entangled in crab-trap lines off the coast of San Francisco, and the surprising ways the whale responded to the scuba divers working to rescue her. This book is geared for children in grades K-5. Hands-on activities follow the reading.
