The old saying is, time flies when you’re having fun and that was definitely true about this past year I spent as being the dairy princess. Hi, I am Hannah Baker, the 2012-2013 Tompkins County Dairy Princess. Over the past year I had the amazing privilege to promote and educate people about the dairy industry in many different ways. With the help of my four other girls on the court, Margaret Markley, Lizzy Drake, Julia Fouts and Mackenzie Weaver, we participated in various parades, attended many public events, wrote numerous articles and educated countless students on the importance of dairy in their diet.
This year has been so much fun, and I cannot thank all the people who have helped me along the way enough, but the biggest thank you I need to make is to the dairy farmers. Without farmers this program would not even exist and I thank them for all their hard work, whether it is taking care of their cows, planting corn or chopping hay. Dairy farmers are extremely hard workers and I appreciate all that they do to produce a superior product.
As my year as the dairy princess came to an end I had the wonderful pleasure to crown the 2013-2014 Tompkins County Dairy Princess, Margaret Markley. I know she will have a fun filled year ahead of her. Thank you all again for helping to make my year as dairy princess a great and memorable year!
