Hillcrest Speedway – Friday Night is Race Night

Posted by  //  August 8, 2012  //  Articles

The Hillcrest Speedway is genuinely a diamond in the ruff for the young racer. This family oriented racing experience is open for kids of ages 5-18 years old. Our racing is divided up into age appropriate and experience levels. This year, our new and younger racers in the Jr. Novice and Novice classes have really stepped up and given the spectators some excitement. We have our kids in the Limited class that is a bumper to bumper contested race from start to finish and our stock class has always proved to be one of the  must see events of the night.

This year we had our track sealed by Ruston Paving, it was major improvement for our club but has proven to be beneficial to our drivers. We are also working on the electronic scoring and hoping to have this up and going soon.

We have also been out and about in our community. Several club members and families worked together and held a buffet breakfast in February at Denny’s Mountainview in Preble. We had the time to spend talking about our track stories over a wonderful breakfast. It was a great time had by all. We also got our cars polished up for a couple of parades this year. Starting off was the McGraw memorial day parade, then Cortland County June Dairy Parade and the other was the Dryden Dairy Days. The kids had a great time driving their cars and we were happy and proud to be in the parades for our club. Our club families have also worked at a couple of chicken barbeque’s at Clarke’s in Dryden and are also doing a food drive every week for a local church’s food pantry.

Come on up and watch us race every Friday night with the green flag being thrown at 7:00. The admission is free, we do have lots to eat at our concession stand and we do a 50/50 raffle. We will be having our State Race on August 26&27. At this weekend of competitive racing, there are many classes with up to 12 cars in each race! Come and see what all the fun is about “up on the hill” at the corner of Elm St. Ext and Wood road. Thanks to Steve Cinquanti you can also visit our web-site at www.microd.org to see our full race schedule and up coming events. This informational web-site also features driver profiles, alumni as well as contact numbers for any questions you may have. You can even get your aspiring driver a free test drive!
