Cooking with Mushrooms is set to take place on Saturday, September 22nd, from 10 AM to noon at the downstairs kitchen of the Homer Congregational Church. Dr. Tim Baroni, a renowned authority on mushrooms and skilled in culinary arts with mushrooms, will lead the event. He will demonstrate the preparation of several sophisticated mushroom hors d’oeuvres, which participants can sample during a reception following the demonstration.
Attendees will also gain valuable insights into mushrooms, including essential facts, practical cooking tips, and expert advice on tips on preserving mushrooms to extend their freshness and flavor beyond the cooking demonstration. Learning these preservation techniques ensures that participants can make the most out of their mushroom dishes at home, enhancing their culinary repertoire with versatile and delicious mushroom-based recipes.
Tickets for the class are priced at $10 each and can be purchased from Oh My Goodness Health Foods in Homer or at the Picture House located at 85 Homer Avenue in Cortland. Alternatively, tickets can be secured by contacting the Cultural Council at 607-753-1188. These tickets also grant access to other Taste of Autumn events held at the Homer Farmers’ Market and throughout the village, available for purchase at the same locations. As part of the class, participants will receive copies of recipes for the hors d’oeuvres demonstrated by Dr. Baroni, along with some of his favorite mushroom-based entrees.
This event promises a unique opportunity to learn directly from Dr. Tim Baroni while enjoying a hands-on culinary experience with mushrooms. Whether you’re a mushroom enthusiast or simply curious about expanding your culinary skills, Cooking with Mushrooms offers an enriching and flavorful experience not to be missed in the Homer community.
