Posted by  //  September 1, 2012  //  Calendar of Events

6 am to 12 midnight. Day trip to New York Botanical Garden to visit “Monet’s Garden” and other exhibitions. See a reproduction of two major gardens that Monet created, “… one a traditional, orderly French garden,” the other a Japanese garden. Also on display are two of his “garden inspired” paintings, one of which has never been shown in the U.S. and many items that belonged to him. In addition to the Monet gardens, there are quite a few other gardens: Everett Children’s Adventure Garden; Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden; Nancy Byran Luce Herb Garden; Home Gardening Center; Jan Watson Irwin Perennial Garden; and the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden. Also on view will be seven “towering sculptures” by Manolo Valdés, an artist born in Valencia who now works out of studios in New York and Madrid. The huge works on display at the Garden portray the intersection of “art and nature.” For more information about the garden visit www.nybg.org. $85 per person.
