The Seven Valley Snow Goers, Inc. is a local snowmobile club numbering over 300 members. Our club started in early 2000’s with about ten members and has grown to what we are today. We fill the center of Cortland County with trails that meet with our neighboring clubs in Truxton, Tully, Marathon, McGraw, Dryden and Moravia. We maintain, mark, and groom approximately 35 miles of corridor 5A and 5F trails from Pipeline Rd in Virgil to the south, Rt. 281 in Preble to the north with as many secondary trails as possible in between. As a club we attempt to preserve existing and develop new trails working in close conjunction with our generous landowners in Virgil, Cortlandville, Homer and Preble. In general, our club hopes to make a safer, more pleasant snowmobiling environment for our numerous riders and families to enjoy from the area, across the state as well as from neighboring states.
Our club meets once each month on the first Thursday of the month between August and April. Each meeting starts at 7:30 pm, and we hold each meeting at various locations located along our trail system. We announce our meetings and locations each month via our website message board, The Cortland Standard, through a monthly email message and our Facebook site.
You can join The Seven Valley Snow Goers online via our website, www.svsginc.com at the New York State Snowmobiling (NYSSA) website www.nysnowmobiler.com or by attending a monthly meeting. Cost to be a member is $25/year for a single membership or $30/year for a family membership. If you do not belong to a snowmobile club in New York State, it costs $100/year to register your snowmobile. If you belong to a club, the cost is $45/year to register your snowmobile.
We have held fundraisers for various non profit organizations through the years, as well as to raise money for the operation of our club. We have a landowner appreciation pancake breakfast once each year in late winter, which is free to all landowners who allow us to use their property for our trail system. This is our club’s way of thanking all of our landowners that allow us to use their land for our snowmobile trails. We also hold a “Demo Day” once each year. This coming year we will hold our annual Demo Day on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Denny’s Mountainview Restaurant. The event starts at 1:00 pm and runs until 5:00 pm. Our local snowmobile dealers, CNY Powersports, Doug’s Powersports and K&H Motorsports bring out their sleds for those who attend to try out the new models so that they can “kick the tires” and see what new innovations have been made to the latest snowmobiles.
We have a Board of Directors and Officers that can be viewed on our website, and contacted via email or phone. Elections are held once each year in October. Our current Officers are:
- Doug Stafford – President
- Dave Hoy – Vice President
- Bill McLaughlin – Treasurer
- Bridget Hoy – Secretary
