November 2 – CCHS Lunch & Learn: “A Bird’s Eye View”
Posted by Dustin Horton // October 5, 2016 // Calendar of Events, Education
12:10pm to 12:50pm, Suggett House, 25 Homer Ave., Cortland. A bird’s eye view is a panoramic city map with its perspective from above. These maps were made of miniature sketches — hand-drawn — that when combined, showed an entire community in detail — every street and building. Popular in the 1880s, they were drawn by on-site artists, reproduced by lithography, and sold to the general public. Their purpose was to decorate Victorian parlors and to bolster a community’s economic activity. For more information call (607) 756-6071, email cchsresearchrequests@yahoo.com or visit Facebook.
