Posted by Dustin Horton // April 20, 2015 // Calendar of Events
The Dryden Town Historical Society is giving guided tours of the historic Southworth Homestead located at 14 North Street, in Dryden, New York. The Southworth Homestead was built in 1836 by John Southworth and was the home of Southworth descendents until 2011 when Rebecca Wood Simpson died leaving the property to the historical society. The homestead is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and represents the influence of the Southworth family in the development of Dryden and their involvement with Cornell University and the New York State legislature. The home is full of beautiful and fascinating family mementoes that provide a glimpse of day to day rural life over successive generations.
