CNY Living History Center – 4th Museum is Finally Here

Posted by  //  September 26, 2023  //  Local Business

After many years of hope and anticipation, the Antique Firehouse and 1st Responder Exhibit is Now Open!  The early dreams and planning stages of the CNY Living History Center located at 4386 US Route 11 between Cortland and Homer included a Firehouse be built on the property.  Due to the dream and passion of one very generous donor, this new two-story building featuring apparatus and artifacts used in firefighting from days gone by are now on display.

Are you interested in walking through history?  Our now four-component museum offers something for everyone.  In addition to the New Firehouse, a visit to the CNY Living History Center would not be complete without a visit to the other museums featured within our facility.

The Brockway Truck Museum is devoted to the history, furniture, carriages and the trucks produced here in Cortland County from 1875 until 1977.  These dependable, heavy-duty, diesel trucks and the history of this local company put this area on the map as Huskietown, USA.

The Homeville Museum and the Ken Eaton Collection of Military Memorabilia dating back to the Civil War will not disappoint.  Model train layouts and railroading history round out this one of a kind museum.  You will also find displays of local industrial history, the music and musicians from the area.

The Big Red Barn, also located on the property, is the home of the Tractors of Yesteryears Collection.  In this collection of vintage tractors are some unique models and tractors of all colors.  Agricultural Heritage and “Grandma’s Kitchen” round out this exhibit.

Our line-up of fall events* includes something for everyone!  Food will be available at many of the events and as always, vendors and exhibitors are welcome!
