David Dow is not only the owner but he is the creative Chef behind the scenes. David was born and raised in our local community. With 4 generations of deep community roots. He graduated from Groton High School later to receive his Degree in Culinary Arts from the Culinary Institute of America in 2002. He has 26 years of Culinary Education and experience.
It has always been a dream of his to own a restaurant. A Burger Shack & More offers burgers with a twist. Featuring the Triple Bypass Burger, this has 2 grill cheese sandwiches as buns, 3 four ounce patties, bacon, American and cheddar cheese with a customer favorite house smoke pulled pork, Cajun mayo, lettuce, tomato and BBQ Sauce. Another example is the Jack Daniels Burger. This has 2 four ounce patties with another customer favorite, homemade Jack Daniels BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato, Cajun mayo, cheddar cheese, with an onion ring. A Burger Shack & More does not just offer burgers but offers a variety of other options that you could try this out from their menu since it’s their specialty.. The OBD (named for his Son), is a Veggie Burger that is out of this world. It has lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and mayo. This is not soggy like most veggie burgers but a nice crispy texture to it. The Menu also offers Chicken Sandwiches and wraps such as The BBQ Jalapeno Crispy Chicken, the Buffalo Chicken Wrap and BLT.
A Burger Shack & More not only offers dine in and carry out, but Catering as well. David has 18 years of Catering experience. For example, doing countless Weddings and functions as a Chef at the Cortland Country Club. As a private Caterer, he has done weddings, graduations and birthday parties from 20 to 150 people. This year, after opening A Burger Shack & More, David did two graduation parties and a wedding. The menus are created to fit any event, tastes, and styles to include holiday events. Some of the future goals for A Burger Shack & More include the purchase of the building, and a recreation of a 50s and 60s Retro Diner. Also in the works is a mobile food truck to allow for catering and delivery to other locations. With a higher customer base and demand, delivery is in the near future.
