The CNY Living History Center is a great family outing!  There are special activities and a huge variety of exhibits that appeal to the whole family, from children to senior citizens.  We have three special events this month. On December 8 from 10 am – 3 pm, we’ll be hosting a Model Train Day with some train sets that visitors can operate plus story-telling, face painting and crafts.  We’ll host the White Chapel Bell Ringers and the Crown City Brass led by Mark Baxendell on December 14 from 6 – 8 pm. This event is free and open to the public! Finally, on December 15, we’ll be hosting a Holiday Craft Fair from 10 am – 3 pm.

The center is composed of 3 separate museums.  The Brockway Museum has a diverse collection of trucks on exhibit, which change out every May.  They also have exhibits on the Brockway family and factory, plus a children’s play area. The Homeville Museum has sections on military history, model trains & railroads and local history.  Tractors of Yesteryear has an extensive tractor collection plus a section of farm family home life.

Our gift store has an extremely varied inventory.  Most people expect Brockway logo items, but last year we significantly expanded our collection of hand crafted items, including:  prints, notecards, soaps, jewelry and local food items. We’ve also expanded the children’s section to include more stuffed animals, in addition to our very popular trucks, trains and airplanes.  Did you know we have a Brockway Truck book, written specifically for kids? We have a large variety of Brockway logo Carhartt jackets, hats, T-shirts, coffee mugs, calendars and collector items. Remember our December 15th Craft Show for additional gift options!

An excellent gift for the History Lover would be an annual CNY Living History Center membership.  They’ll get 12 months of unlimited admission, including special events, for $40 for an Individual or $70 for a Household (up to 4 members).  Members also receive a 10% discount off Gift Store purchases.

The CNY Living History Center is located at 4386 US Rt 11, Cortland.  We’re open Tues – Sat from 10 am to 5 pm. Call us at (607) 299-4185 or visit cnylivinghistory.org.
