When I was a kid I wanted to take karate but my parents would not let me. They thought that it would make me more aggressive than I was. The reverse is actually true but some of that stigma is still attached to Karate today. It was not until I was in college I was able to take Martial Arts as a mini course, who would have known I would still be in it 30 years later and hold a 5th degree Black Belt! When I started to practice Martial Arts more my grandmother would always say he used to have a temper but now after doing karate a couple years he doesn’t anymore!

Martial Arts channels excess energy in a positive way. Adults practice it for stress release while increasing their strength and flexibility. Learning some pretty good self defense skills at the same time makes it even more attractive.

For children the benefits are even higher. It can increase their attention span and ability to focus and concentrate in a classroom while tuning out distractions. They also learn self-defense skills and it builds their self-esteem and self-confidence.

If you are interested in starting or have a child interested we offer a private introductory class for ages 6 and up! This also lets us learn about your goals in Martial Arts. These are typically between 4 and 5 p.m. Monday – Thursday but we are flexible. Ages 4 & 5 usually like to start right in a class with kids their age. Classes are Mondays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays & Thursdays depending on your age.
