Yes it has! It began in September- can you believe it? Of course, we didn’t have our holiday merchandise out in September but some stores did. We DID have customers asking about our holiday lines in September, though. Here we are just a couple of weeks away from Thanksgiving and the “Holiday Shopping Season” is well underway. In all honesty, I am extremely envious of the early shoppers. By mid-November (or earlier) they are done with their shopping and can avoid going to malls and stores, dealing with holiday-shopping traffic and, often, over-stressed, over-spent, over-tired last minute shoppers (like me). While some folks are thrilled with the prospect of what the Holiday Shopping Season offers, not everyone shares their enthusiasm.

Holiday gift shopping can be intimidating for even the most enthusiastic shoppers. Before you set out to do your holiday shopping this year, make a list of who you have to buy a gift for and the dollar amount you will spend on the gift. Not sure if you should buy a gift for someone? Check out Dave Ramsey’s Blog, where he has an easy flow chart style guide! (http://www.daveramsey.com/blog/holiday-gift-giving-guide). If you aren’t sure about what to buy, list a couple of things you know about who you are shopping for (i.e.Uncle Steve loves fishing and golf). Stick to your list! Be sure to ask shop staff for help with gift ideas—the information on your list will help us narrow down some good choices!  Think outside the box when it comes to gifts! Don’t turn up your nose at the section of antiques and collectibles—Uncle Steve may love one of the hand-carved antique lures.

Consider purchasing a gift certificate for the hard-to-buy-for person in your family! At The Second Knob Gifts & Antiques, gift certificates are available in ANY denomination and are good for one year after purchase for gifts or antiques. One of the most-loved and popular gift ideas is a gift certificate for a family photo shoot from Shots by Shana Photography! Throughout November, you can purchase a gift certificate for a natural light family shoot for just $79 plus tax!

On November 26th, we will celebrate the holidays with our third Annual Holiday Open House. Saturday, November 26th, is also “Small Business Saturday.” Small Business Saturday is a day to support small business owners when folks are encouraged to shop small, local stores to help fuel the economy. Small Business Saturday has gained momentum over the last few years and it helps locals get familiar with small shops in their community! We will celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas with refreshments, door prizes and specials. We will have normal open hours the day after Thanksgiving and will offer a few “Black Friday” specials in addition to free coffee for tired Black Friday shoppers. We hope to see everyone there!

This year, we continue to offer Private Parties—where hosts will earn up to 20% of all sales to use toward their own holiday shopping! You can book a private party anytime outside of normal business hours, Tues-Sat 10-6 and Sun 10-5. Simply bring the beverages and finger foods, invite guests and ENJOY your evening!

This year, make The Second Knob and Shots by Shana Photography your one stop for easy and fun holiday shopping!
