This exciting group will be holding their ground breaking educational workshop here in Cortland, NY from 10a-5pm M-F April 25-29th (with a break for lunch from 1-2p) and will be split into two parts:
Part 1 for performers: An iLuminate choreographer will come and teach 4 numbers of varying difficulty levels to students interested in dance and theatre. iLuminate’s particular blend of hip hop, street, and classic dance is challenging, modern, and uncommon in central NY! The students will learn combinations specific to those genres, and will also learn to put together the dance ‘illusions’ crafted in the dark that create the magic that iLuminate is known for!
Part 2: An iLuminate technician will come and work with technical students to and teach the wiring, coding, and design skill necessary to making iLuminate performances special. Students will create and wire gloves, learn soldering, work with lighting design software, and will be taught the creative design insight needed to create an unforgettable iLuminate experience!
Mid week, both groups will come together. The performers will put on iLuminate educational light suits, and the tech students will design the lighting effects for the numbers that the performing students have just learned! We will perform the result for parents and friends on Friday, April 29th at 7pm!
The iLuminate Project is brought to the teens of central NY through the generous support of several local businesses, groups, and individuals:
