March 19 – Maple Sugarin’ Day
Posted by Dustin Horton // February 27, 2016 // Calendar of Events
9am to 12noon, Lime Hollow Education Center, 3277 Gracie Rd., Cortland. For Central New Yorkers, the coming of spring isn’t marked by the calendar. It’s marked by plumes of steam coming from sugar houses in full swing. That’s the signal to shed a layer and shake off months of cabin fever. For generations, making syrup has been more than a tradition- it’s been a rite of passage from winter to spring. Lime Hollow, in conjunction with the BOCES New Visions Environmental Science Class, will guide you through stations in the Lime Hollow Sugar Bush at our new Environmental Education Center. Come discover how maple syrup is made. Taste sap running right out of the tree and sample delicious jack wax in our own Sugar Shack.
