February 17 – Social Security benefits, Medicare, Medicaid and Medicare Managed Care

2pm to 4pm, Access to Independence, 26 North Main Street in Cortland, Community Room. Presented by Jim Murphy, an attorney with Legal Services of Central New York, Inc., and Sara Hazard, Aging Services Specialist from the Cortland County Area Agency on Aging. Mr. Murphy will provide an overview of Social Security benefits, including Social Security Retirement, (SSR), Social Security Disability Insurance, (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). He will also provide clarification on Medicare and Medicaid benefits as well as explain local services offered by Legal Services of Central New York. Ms. Hazard will speak about Medicaid Managed Care. She will explain the eligibility criteria and the various options available and the application process.
