4 Ways to Get Bargains on Small Business Saturday

Posted by  //  November 25, 2015  //  Local Business

Small Saturday will be happening this year on November 28. American Express started this shopping initiative to encourage consumers to shop small and local during the holiday season, but it is now a key piece of the major holiday shopping day trifecta. Eighty-eight million people have shown up to “shop small” since 2010. Upstate New York has many local shopping and entertainment venues that participate in this important shopping day.

  • Check papers and magazines for deals.
  • Visit the websites and Facebook pages of local business for secret online bargains.
  • Get a group of friends together to buy bundles of gift cards to meet large quantity bargains on gift cards.
  • Visit your favorite online business to see if the large box and Amazon type stores are running deals.

Now that you have prepared for the big day, let’s build some enthusiasm on our own Facebook pages and make sure Small Business Saturday gives small businesses everywhere a tremendous boost for the rest of the year.

Shipwreck Golf Participating in Food Bank Program

People who use food banks are employed. They are hard workers. They are people who often make choices between rent, their kids’ needs and food. 65% of households using food banks have a child under 18 or someone 60 or older. Children in Cortland County go to school hungry. Some children who get free meals at school know that will be the only meals they get for the day.

Shipwreck Golf would like to help fill the local food bank. Bring in 5 nonperishable food items and get 10% off the cost of your entertainment.

Even if you are not playing golf or bouncing bring in your donation. We will enter you in a drawing to win a meal and entertainment for a family of 4.

Let’s help feed those whose struggle to feed themselves. Bring your can or dry good donation to Shipwreck today. This program will last until December 31, 2015. Shipwreck Golf is located at 759 State Route 13 in Cortland.
