September 18 – Planting for Native Birds Workshop
Posted by Dustin Horton // September 13, 2014 // Calendar of Events, Workshops & Seminars
6:00-7:30 pm
Ithaca Permaculture Park (aka Conley Park)
Alice Miller Way between Franklin and Adams Streets, Ithaca
Cost: Free!
At our current rate of growth we lose 21 million acres of bird and pollinator habitat to residential development every decade – an area the size of Maryland and West Virginia combined! This means it’s more important than ever for homeowners to plant shrubs, trees, perennials and annuals that support native birds and pollinators. In this free, hands-on class participants will help design and plant a native garden in the Ithaca Permaculture Park (aka Conley Park). This is an opportunity to learn about native plants that provide food and habitat for native birds and pollinators as well as best practices for planting trees and shrubs. This is an outdoor hands-on class so please come dressed for the weather! Tools and gloves will be provided. – See more at: http://ccetompkins.org/
