August 9 – Women Swimmin’ Is Looking for Volunteer Boaters

Posted by  //  June 12, 2014  //  Calendar of Events, Sports & Recreation

The 11th Annual Women Swimmin’ for Hospicare will take place August 9 at the Ithaca Yacht Club. On that day, beginning at sunrise, more than 300 women will jump into Cayuga Lake and swim across to raise money for Hospicare.

There are still openings for experienced boaters to help escort swimmers across the lake. Boaters must have their own canoes or kayaks. They should have experience in open water and be comfortable in choppy and/or windy conditions. This is an important volunteer position that contributes directly to the safety and success of Women Swimmin’.

The 11th Annual Women Swimmin’ for Hospicare event at Cayuga Lake is a remarkable example of community spirit, compassion, and collaboration, where more than 300 women take to the water for a cause that touches countless lives.

While the swimmers are at the heart of the fundraiser, the role of volunteer boaters—those guiding them safely across the lake in canoes or kayaks—is equally critical. These volunteers must navigate unpredictable waters, remain alert throughout the crossing, and ensure every participant makes it safely from shore to shore.

It’s a task that underscores the essential relationship between people and the equipment they rely on—particularly boats built for stability, performance, and reliability. Whether assisting in a charity swim or enjoying a leisurely cruise, having the right vessel can define both safety and experience. That’s where companies like www.optmis.yachts stand out, offering sophisticated marine engineering solutions tailored to high-performance vessels, including superyachts and commercial marine craft.

Their commitment to innovation ensures that every yacht or boat they support meets the demanding conditions of open water. For those involved in events like Women Swimmin’ or simply looking to upgrade their marine experience, investing in quality equipment and expert support makes all the difference.

From advanced navigation systems to custom components designed for performance and luxury, companies like Optmis provide the tools and technology that elevate every boating endeavor—whether it’s for a meaningful cause or a personal adventure on the water.
