June is Dairy month! Dryden Dairy Day will be held on Saturday, June 14, in Montgomery Park, Dryden. The theme this year is “Yogurt: Dairy Culture is Sweeping New York!”, and will be featured in many entries in the grand parade down Main Street, starting at 9:30 a.m.  Festivities will continue in Montgomery Park until 3:00 p.m. A full schedule of free entertainment, games and contests will be keep participants of all ages engaged in a fun day.

Dryden Dairy Day is sponsored by Dryden Grange, with support from many individuals from the community.  The “Rotary Dairy Dash” will lead off the parade, with registration at the Dryden Café. Other attractions include live animal exhibits, games, crafters and delicious food. Starting June 1, watch for the colorful cows to appear in Time Square and in various places around town.  If you would like more information on how to become a sponsor, how to participate as a vendor at the park, to enter the parade or the Rotary Dairy Dash, or how to purchase a cow please visit our website at drydendairyday.org, or contact Brenda Carpenter at 607-844-8049.

Schedule for the Day:

8:00 – Rotary Dairy Dash registration @ Dryden Café (Parking at Dryden Fire Station)

9:30 – Rotary Dairy Dash start just ahead of the parade

10:45 – Opening Ceremony; Dairy Princess, Dairy Dash and Parade winners; Introduction of the Tompkins County Dairy Princess and her court, and the 2014 Dryden Dairy Day Agricultural Scholarship recipient

11:00–12:15 – Middle and High School Jazz Bands

Noon–1:00 – “Meet the Farmer” discussion

12:15-12:30 – Mooing Contest

1:15–2:30 – Bob Walpole and Dee Specker
