Join us for and evening of feet in the sand with music, refreshments, and cocktails at the Opening of “On The Beach” at the Groton Gallery. New works will be shown by Monica Franciscus, a long time artist and resident of Ithaca. Seascapes consist of a provocative mixed medium installation, mixed media on wood and works on paper. Franciscus is a known fixture in the Tompkins County art scene having taught locally at the Johnson Museum, CSMA, other area schools. Monica states that her work is “emotional, about intimacy and relationships and is full of rhythms color and movement”. Gallery curator, Lorna Apper, says “Monica brings a keen mastery of light, color, and stroke to her work that is high energy, unpretentious and refreshing.” Part of the proceeds from this show will benefit and raise awareness for the work done by the Plastic Pollution Coalition.
