The Show Trunk II to Host Anniversary Open House

The Show Trunk II, a local full-service family-owned equestrian tack shop, will soon be celebrating their second anniversary with an Open House – just in time for the holidays!

Owned by Stacy Lowe-Jonas and Hugh Jonas, The Show Trunk II offers a wide range of carefully selected high quality apparel and tack for both horse and rider. With over 55 years of collective riding, Stacy and Hugh know how important it is to have the right equipment.

“I use the products, I ride, I coach. I’ve been riding all my life”, Stacy says. “I know it, I breathe it, I live it. So I’m using the products. Whether you’re going to Medal Finals, which is one of the top competitions, or going to your first local horse show . . . I know what’s appropriate for all levels of riding. Do you need the best equipment? No, but there are a few basic pieces of equipment that you should have to allow your body to do what your trainer is going to ask of you.”

But Stacy doesn’t need to tell you that she has fifteen years working in retail, or how good the customer service is at The Show Trunk II; all you need to do is walk in and see her in action to know what “knowledgeable” and “full service” mean. She’ll button your shirt for you, put your coat on, measure your feet, and put your shoes on; make color, sizing, and functionality suggestions. She knows that it’s this exemplary customer service that will make her business succeed.

“That’s what I’m here for . . . it’s what I do. I want you to feel spoiled. It’s not about getting you in and out the door; it’s about making you feel comfortable. You want to come in and hang out, bring your dog; come by and see me! That’s the only way this business is going to be successful.”

Stacy and Hugh are grateful for all of the local support they’ve received. “Everybody locally has rolled out the red carpet for us and been very accommodating as our business has grown. They’ve helped us to decide what we will carry . . . the whole community has let us know what they’d like to see in the shop . . . it’s taken a lot of people to do that, and we appreciate that local input.”

Their goal in opening The Show Trunk II was to support the local horse community. Stacy realized the need for her business when she found that she always had to buy equestrian merchandise at horse shows because local shops were nearly non-existent. She spends most of her time on the road with her mobile unit, offering merchandise at local horse shows, one-day events, and open houses.

The Show Trunk II sponsors many local horse shows, IEA, IHSA teams and other equestrian events. Stacy coaches the Elmira College Equestrian Team with MaryLou Spencer at Foxmoor Farm in Horseheads, New York. “We also have a new IEA team, which is a middle school/high school team that also rides out of Foxmoor Farm.”

The Show Trunk II’s second anniversary celebratory Open House will take place during regular store hours (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) November 30th and Sunday, December 1st. Several representatives from the major companies/brands will be on hand to offer information about products; there will be door prizes, gift wrapping, and lots of awesome food! Seasonal merchandise will be available for holiday shopping, including products offered by local artists and vendors, such as handmade jewelry and pet clothing and beds.

The Show Trunk II also makes wish lists, so if you have a special equestrian in your life, Hugh and Stacy are glad to find your holiday gift requests and make them available to you.
