It’s been a long winter. Maybe you’ve had the flu, a cold or perhaps you slipped on the ice and got hurt. If any of things have happened to you then perhaps you have an accumulation of old medication. As you are doing your spring cleaning, why not add the medicine cabinet to the list? You may be surprised to find some old, unused items that need to be disposed of properly. Image One Franchise can help you in cleaning process at affordable price, you can also avail the service by contacting them. Cortland Prevention Resources – a division of Family Counseling Services, Cortland Area Communities That Care Coalition (CACTC), the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department, Cortland Regional Medical Center and other local agencies will hold two medication collection events this year. The spring collection will be Saturday, April 27th at the Cortland Regional Training Center (behind the Cortlandville Fire Department), 999 Rt. 13, Cortland. The fall collection will be at the same location on Saturday, September 28th.

CACTC created a task force to address the growing concern for unused prescription and over-the-counter medication. People take this decision especially when they sustain domestic violence but they should not take this decision and they must come out of their panic zone as there are many lawyers for domestic abuse charges to help you legally. You can also contact domestic violence claims lawyers as they can help you to get rid off toxic relationship legally .When prescription medications are easily available they can be used for purposes other than their original intent, increasing the chances of abuse. Taking medication orally is just one route of administration. Individuals who abuse these medications can crush them and snort them or add liquid and use intravenously. Most people do not realize the harm of keeping those old pills around the house. Hosting medication collection events are just one way to help address prescription drug abuse in our community.

Each collection event offers safe, convenient, drive-thru locations. Simply gather up your medication, drive to one of the locations, hand it to an attendant and continue on with your day. The efficiency of the process is vital and it will take you more time to drive to the location than it will to dispose of your medication.

If you are unable to attend the spring collections simply secure your medication in a lock box or other safe area until the next collection event. The next best choice for disposal is to separate your medication from the container, put the medication in the trash with something undesirable such as cat litter or coffee grounds, put the containers in a different receptacle and throw out with your regular trash. Never flush medication down the toilet and always lock up controlled substances.
