Posted by Dustin Horton // October 15, 2012 // Calendar of Events, Education
7:15pm, SUNY Cortland, Sperry Room 205. Scholars and policymakers are increasingly focused on the intensive clinical preparation of future teachers. This presentation by Dr. Benjamin Dotger, Associate Professor of Teaching and Leadership atSyracuse University, examines the diffusion of a simulation pedagogy commonly used in medical education to the context of teacher education. Design-tenets, simulation procedures, and examples of simulations will be highlighted, outlining both the research and instructional potential of simulations. Concluding remarks will emphasize recent efforts with this unique pedagogy, focusing on the current development of mathematics and science simulations for secondary teacher education contexts. Free and open to the public. For more information call(607) 753-2913 or e-mail kerri.freese@cortland.edu.
