The need to know what the Latin Name of an herb is important as one can tell when we are talking gravel root. The nick names of this herb are the same as at three other herbs and its first Latin name is the same as boneset but the second name is different and completely different in looks and medicinal value.
NICKNAMES: Joe pye weed, queen of the meadow, sweet joe pye weed.
LATIN NAME: Eupatorium purpureum.
ELEMENT: Earth.
POWERS: Grounding and balancing of Yin and Yang.
MEDICINAL PARTS: Leaves, root and flower.
CONSTITUTES: Glycogen (polysaccharides).
PROPERTIES: Bitter, tonic, cleansing and dissolvent.

Therefore it helps with any type of stone or gravel in the body, cystitis, urethritis, prostate cancer treatment and impotence (find out more here), painful menstruation, problems holding a fetus and labor weakness, and a prolapse uterus, chronic coughs, asthma, gout and rheumatism, being high in glycogens, means great energy for the muscles.
EXTERNAL USES: The crushed leaves put on bruising will help to reduce the black and bluing.
HARVEST: Pick the whole plant during the flower stage. Hang to dry and then pick off the flowers and leaves.
USE AS: Tea, fresh, extracts and powder forms.
