The Cortland Area Flute Ensemble (CAFE) and the Cortland Area Junior Flute Ensemble (CAFE Jr.) present “An Evening of Chamber Music for Flute” to be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 7:00 pm at the Cortland Interfaith Chapel, 7 Calvert Street, Cortland, NY. There is no admission charge; however freewill offerings will be accepted at the door to benefit the ensembles.
Members will perform in ensembles of all sizes encompassing a wide variety of music by various composers, including Berlin, Boismortier, Cohen, Gabrieli, Handel, Mendelssohn, and Unger, among others.
Founded in the fall of 2008, CAFE is an organization of flute enthusiasts collaborating on flute performance opportunities, education, camaraderie, and other activities to support arts in the local community. CAFE welcomes all abilities, creating an inclusive ensemble.
By the fall of 2011, CAFE expanded to include junior flutists and CAFE Jr. was created as a result. This ensemble provides a creative and fun, interscholastic alternative after school activity for our local young flute enthusiasts. Members are in grades up to and including 8thgrade and can play at least a NYSSMA III solo or equivalent. This is their premiere performance.
