Barbara’s historical novel, LINE BY LINE, is set in the Great Depression. It tells the story of Maddy Skobel, who flees her central Ohio town —by freight train—determined to carve out a life on her own terms.
An essential part of the story takes place in Auburn, NY, & in the Finger Lakes region during the early 1930s.
She writes both fiction & nonfiction & is a freelance editor of college textbooks in the humanities, computer books, & works of fiction. She is also a photographer who teaches the art of photography to people with disabilities & occasionally exhibits in the Cleveland area. She lives in Concord, Ohio. This is her debut novel.
Barbara will read from her book and speak about the hobo culture, the Bonus March in Washington, D.C., and other aspects of life during the Depression.
She will also be available afterwards for book signings.
