September 12 – Cornell Organic Cropping Systems Field Day
Posted by Dustin Horton // September 6, 2011 // Calendar of Events, Farming & Agriculture
The Cornell Organic Cropping Systems Project will be hosting its annual Grain Crops Field Day from 9:30-Noon on Monday, September 12 at the Musgrave Research Farm,1256 Poplar Ridge Rd., Aurora, NY.
Come join us as we tour an organic food grade soybean trial, organic corn variety plots, as well as the long-term organic systems trial plots. This year, corn and soybeans in the systems trial look good in spite of a very dry July, and weed control is good. See the differences between the high fertility, intensive weed management, and “bare bones” systems. Dr. Margaret Smith will be on hand to talk about her organic corn breeding project. We are looking forward to lively interaction with growers. Light refreshments will be served. Registration requested by contacting Sharon at 607-753-5215 or shv7@cornell.edu
