July 2-5 – Fetch Gate Farm Sheep Dog Trial
Posted by Dustin Horton // June 25, 2011 // Calendar of Events
8:00-4:00 each day, 1804 Babcock Hollow in Virgil. The local community is invited to come and watch some wonderful dogs at work. A trial is the ultimate test of a dog and its training. It is designed to test all of the skills necessary to perform its daily work on the farm or ranch. There will be four days of herding competitions with competitors from all over the Northeast and beyond. Open competitors compete on Sat/Sun for over $4000 in prize money. Less experienced dogs compete on Mon/Tue. This is a free event. Donations are accepted to help us offset the many costs. Concessions and cold drinks available (Sat-Mon). Spectators are encouraged to attend and dogs are welcome (on leash and under control). Bring a picnic blanket or a chair and come watch the trial! Shade/rain cover is provided.
