Win Habitat for Humanity’s Custom-Made “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” Themed Playhouse!

Women Build volunteers from Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties, partnering with Play By Design and Audrey Edelman Realty USA, have built a magical, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” themed playhouse.  The custom play structure will be raffled off during this year’s Ithaca Festival and now is the time to purchase your tickets – it could be yours!  Proceeds from ticket sales will go towards construction of the Habitat for Humanity house currently being built on Sperry Lane in Lansing.  Habitat for Humanity builds simple, decent homes for deserving, local, low-income families.  This home will be built almost entirely by volunteers, will be energy efficient, and is also handicap accessible, to accommodate the needs of the partner family.

On May 6th and 7th, under the guidance of Dave Iannello and Lee Archin from Play by Design, dozens of volunteers contributed to the construction and decoration of the playhouse. Women Build participants, CFCU employees, Ithaca League of Women Rollers members and the Ithaca High School Girls Lacrosse Team all worked together to cut, sand, rout, assemble and paint the structure.

Women Build’s mission is to empower women to take action against poverty housing conditions.  Women Build is not about excluding men, but about including women and opening new doors of opportunity.  Lowe’s generously underwrites Women Build and nearly 100 local women have participated in tool use and construction technique training seminars at Lowes since January of this year.
