Cortland County’s annual CROP Hunger Walk to raise funds to overcome hunger both throughout the world and locally will be held on Sunday, October 20th at Grace and Holy Spirit Church, 13 Court Street. Registration starts at 1:00 p.m. with the Rock and Blues Ensemble from SUNY Cortland providing entertainment as walkers register.
Each year CROP Hunger Walk raises significant funds to aid famine relief efforts, disaster relief efforts and agricultural development. The local Cortland community retains 25% of the funds that are raised to support area food pantries and food programs. Last year 515 walkers in Cortland raised over $11,000!
Cortland County CROP Hunger Walk is a perfect time to get together with family , friends and members of your faith community to enjoy either a half mile walk or a three mile loop while benefitting an important and worthwhile effort that makes a difference in the lives of millions of people. But hunger isn’t just about millions of people – it’s about individuals, like the tired child in an American school who when asked if he’d had breakfast one morning, answered, “No, it wasn’t my turn.”
Join CROP Hunger Walk by collecting money to bring to the Walk on October 20th. Be part of the hundreds of people in our community to make a difference in overcoming hunger. For more information go to the website www.crophungerwalk.org/
The Cortland CROP Hunger Walk is sponsored by the Cortland County Council of Churches.
