Used materials are a local resource!

They don’t make ‘em like they used to! Remember that saying? It’s still true! Finger Lakes ReUse accepts items ranging from a teacup to an entire house from practically new to the rarest antique. You never know what you’re going to find – but we’re sure you’ll see something interesting when you visit! New items arrive daily and you can find everything from lamps to laptops, with many unique items available – all at a fraction of their retail price! Our ReUse Center accepts and sells quality used furniture, housewares, computers, home electronics and salvaged and surplus building materials such as lumber, doors, cabinets, hardware, windows, appliances. To make it easy for people to donate and shop, the ReUse Center is open every day – check our website for our hours at www.fingerlakesreuse.org or call us at (607) 257-9699. With the number of donations growing constantly, we have just opened a new space next door to our storefront to showcase our sizable collection of gently used furniture.
Our deconstruction services program dismantles whole buildings and does small salvage jobs, year round. Our eCenter offers an affordable computer repair service and refurbished computers to the general public, as well as discounted, second-hand computers at a reduced price for income eligible candidates through the Community Technology Assistance program. Our community-oriented programs prioritize maximum reuse of materials and offer education in the skills of repair and reuse.
Keeping items in active use is important to us, so we are starting up a volunteer-run Fixers Collective – and the items we will be able to help repair will depend on who shows up, and what tools and skillsets are offered up. Learn More from here to know the best repair professionals who are mostly preferred by everyone. We hope to begin meeting this fall. If you’re interested in participating in our Fixers Collective, take our online survey today at www.fingerlakesreuse.org/
Buying reused is a great way to shop sustainably. Giving items a second life and preserving their economic value has many positive environmental implications – the amount of waste that can be diverted from landfills by reuse is remarkable, and many natural resources that would otherwise go into production and transportation of new goods can be conserved. You also promote the regional economy. Finger Lakes ReUse is an entirely local organization and certified living-wage employer.
Our efforts are supported by Tompkins County Solid Waste, the Park Foundation, Sustainable Tompkins, Triad Foundation, the Community Foundation of Tompkins County, and many other generous individuals and businesses.
