CORTLAND CITY BALLET was established in 1997 to train and educate dance professionals and to instill in others an appreciation of dance as an art form and enjoyable recreational activity. The school is committed to providing comprehensive, highly structured training that is both professional and enjoyable. On September 24, 2012 CCB is excited to have a grand re-opening at a new location in the West Rd Plaza, 3915 Rt 281, in Cortland! Cortland City Ballet is far beyond only offering ballet classes. CCB also has a full line-up of Hip-hop, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Modern, Toddler and Pre-school dance, Kick Line, Cheer, Tumbling, Pilates mat classes and private sessions, stretch-n-tone classes, Zumba, Adult dance for exercise and more to be added! Amy Porcaro Taylor, the owner/Artistic Director of Cortland City Ballet, is a graduate of the school of the Hartford Ballet’s Teacher Training program, and was a member of their performing ensemble. She has been teaching dance since 1991. Ms Amy, as referred to by her students, has been internationally trained at the National Ballet of Canada, New York University’s Tisch School of Arts, SUNY Purchase, Bates College and Western Michigan University (1999 David Howard teachers’ course), with world-renowned teachers. She also has an extensive performing background in Ballet, Modern and Musical Theater. Locally she choreographed “The King & I” for CRT in 2001. Amy has created and directed original productions of “The Nutcracker”, “A Tale of Peter Rabbit” and “The Sleeping Beauty/Aurora’s Wedding Celebration”, “Peter and the Wolf”, “Allegra’s Childhood Memories”, “Alice in Wonderland”, “A Moving Journey Through Time”, “Disney on Stage” , “Ruby Slippers”, Technique, the Art of Dance, “Swan Lake Act III”, “CCB on Broadway”, “CCB Goes to Hollywood” and more for CCB. Amy was a faculty member for the College of Visual and Performing Art in the Musical Theatre Dept. at Syracuse University 1996-2001 until she decided to leave for Motherhood and to focus solely on Cortland City Ballet.

Our curriculum, taught only by professionals, skillfully weaves artistic and practical disciplines into classical technique.
