Phil Shapiro, host of WVBR’s Bound for Glory since its inception in 1967, announces the Winter schedule, continuing  the 45th year of this Central New York musical tradition.

WVBR’s Bound for Glory, North America’s longest running live folk concert broadcast, broadcasts live from  the Cafe at Anabel Taylor Hall at Cornell on Sunday nights.  Bound for Glory brings central New York another series of free folk concerts, on WVBR-FM, 93.5 and 105.5, and streaming on line at http://wvbr.com . We promise some excellent acoustic music, presented by long-time host Phil Shapiro.

The show runs Sunday nights from 8 to 11, with live sets at 8:30, 9:30, and 10:30.  All three sets are different.  Come to as many sets as you wish.  Admission in the live audience at Anabel Taylor  is free and is open to everyone in the area.  Kids are always welcome.    Refreshments are available.  For further information, call Phil Shapiro at 607-844-4535, or e-mail pds10@cornell.edu.

JAN. 22 MIKE AGRANOFF.  Funny, sometimes very funny.  Serious, sometimes very serious.  Mike Agranoff has been on Bound for Glory many times, with his ever-growing collection of parodies and recitations, and a remarkable repertoire of recent songs by a wide variety of writers.  An amazing experience.  http://mikeagranoff.com .

JAN. 29 TRAONACH.  The return of Ithaca’s fine celtic band.  They started out in the Tuesday night Irish sessions, and grew into a touring band of considerable quality.  Lots of energy, great tunes, excellent songs.  Traonach brings a smile to your face and gets your toes tapping.  http://www.myspace.com/traonach .

FEB. 5       AL PARRISH.  Al Parrish should be familiar to many in the folk community as the bass player of the late, lamented Ontario band Tanglefoot.  Now he’s out on his own.  Al is a wonderful songwriter,  guitarist, and a charming performer, with a great voice and a big, welcoming style.   And, yes, he lived in Ithaca for a while.http://alparrish.ca .

FEB. 12        JAMES KEELAGHAN.  James Keelaghan makes his long awaited return to Bound for Glory.  He’s a really fine songwriter, coming to us from the Canadian prairies, writing of history, philosophy, maybe even of truth.  A powerful performer who will be sure to get your attention.  http://keelaghan.com

FEB. 19 THE PEARLY SNAPS.  Join us for the second Bound for Glory for this remarkable Old Timey duo.  Rosie Newton and Stephanie Jenkins bring us some really old songs, and some newer ones, too, with tight harmonies and understated, magical instrumentals.  And they’ll bring some friends.  http://www.myspace.com/thepearlysnaps
FEB. 26   SMALL POTATOES.

A wonderful, eclectic duo, in from Illinois.  Small Potatoes is a past winner of the Best of Bound for Glory award, with a Live at Bound for Glory CD.  Their songs have tremendous variety.  More and more of them are homemade.  Incredibly warm and welcoming. http://smallpotatoesmusic.com .MAR. 4        GARNET ROGERS.  Garnet is one of the finest singer-songwriters and performers in all of Canada, and he’s one of our very favorites on Bound for Glory.  He has a marvelous voice, an incredible connection to the audience, and he’s often quite funny as well. http://garnetrogers.com

MAR. 11 FOUR SHILLINGS SHORT.  It’s been quite a while.  This charming neo-celtic duo will surprise us with songs we don’t expect to hear, played on instruments we don’t expect either, including Sitar.  They will leave you with a big grin, wanting to hear more.  http://4shillingsshort.com.

On MARCH 18 and 25, Bound for Glory will be Albums from the Studios.  Give Phil a call at 607-273-2121.   Later on this Spring:  BILL STAINES, KEN AND BRAD KOLODNER, AZTEC TWO-STEP, and more.
