Year end is fast approaching, and most people have no idea where their business stands or how the tax law changes from the OBBBA passed by Congress a few months ago will affect their income tax liability.
In either QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop software applications, are your business bank accounts and credit cards reconciled through October? Are your business transactions categorized properly on your profit and loss statement and balance sheet? Are all your business credit card and loan balances reflected correctly with current principal balances and the interest expense portion of your debt payments posted on your profit and loss statement? Do you have enough income tax paid in to the IRS and New York State so you are not hit with a large income tax due on your tax return in April that you did not expect?
Too many business people put their bookkeeping on the back burner during the year and lose track of their income and expenses. If you do not follow a defined process that runs all business transactions through the business’s bank account, it can be guaranteed that cash transactions and receipts are missing, and personal expenses are combined with business expenses throughout both your bank accounts and credit cards.
