Up Boxed – Solving Needs in Cortland
Posted by Dustin Horton // January 24, 2024 // Local Business
Cortland is seeing the start of a new business, meeting the current ongoing needs of local residents. After having issues with wet, damaged, and missing mail and packages themselves, local couple Alan and Amanda McCormick decided to take action—launching Up Boxed LLC. Up Boxed, located next to Grand Union at 3924 State Route 281 in Cortland, offers solutions. With physical mailboxes (similar to those at the Post Office) or a package subscription, they can accept and hold packages from all major shipping carriers—even Amazon—until you are ready to pick them up. With package thefts recently on the rise, this service comes just in time!
Up Boxed also offers mail and shipping through the United States Postal Service, FedEx, and UPS, and accepts returns for these carriers, as well as Amazon. Here you can bring your items in and have them professionally packed, ensuring their safe arrival to wherever in the world you send them.
Other unique services that Up Boxed offers include summer storage for students, itemized storage, copy and print services, drop off shredding services, and even virtual mailboxes where you can check, shred, open, or recycle your mail from anywhere. If that’s not enough they also carry office supplies, greeting cards, packing supplies, and homemade local favorites. The store opens February 1st, but you can check them out today at getupboxed.com. The hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am-6:00pm, Saturday 10am-3:30pm.
Meet the owners: Husband-and-wife duo Alan and Amanda McCormick both grew up in small businesses with their parents and have strong relationships in the community through their volunteer work, church, and work in the not-for-profit sector. They are taking the plunge into entrepreneurship because of the desire to meet needs while also passing on to their children the important values of hard work that they learned from their own experiences of growing up in small business.
