Nightingale Mills Opens New Hardware Store in Tully

Nightingale’s Tully Lakes Hardware opened its doors October 1st in the Village of Tully, in the plaza next to the Post Office. The store, which is owned by Nightingale Mills from Marcellus, carries an assortment of traditional hardware store merchandise as well as a diverse selection of lawn and garden products (including lawn mowers, chainsaws, and other outdoor power equipment), automotive parts and supplies, housewares, Weber Grills and grilling accessories, sporting goods and farm toys, paint and seasonal merchandise (including pool supplies, wood stove pellets, fishing and boating gear, and deicers). The store also offers a pet department, wild bird feeders and foods (featuring Aspen Song Wild Bird Food blends), and some farm and fencing supplies.
The store offers many products beyond hardware- the goal being to serve the needs of the local community and fill a niche of their own, and not duplicate the services and businesses that Tully already has. With everything from their own custom mix of grass seed, to stained glass sun catchers, special order Muck Boots, canning supplies, and everything in-between- it’s more than a traditional hardware store. As the store settles in store manager, Dave Ebert, will take note of customer requests and work towards stocking the shelves appropriately. Nightingale’s will also bring a taste of their garden center, by offering locally grown plants including spring annuals, vegetables, bedding flowers, perennials, and fall mums.
Nightingale Mills, which has a long history serving the Central New York community, opened in 1888 as a water-powered saw mill on the banks of Nine Mile Creek in Marcellus. Over the years, the mill has evolved to serve local needs, from milling grain, repairing farm machinery, selling fuel and farm supplies, tire sales and repairs, to hardware and a seasonal greenhouse. Today, the business continues to remain family-owned and operated with a small, knowledgeable staff at the two locations. Like the Marcellus store, Tully Lakes Hardware is an affiliate of True Value, but also sells good from a variety of other merchants, including Husqvarna, Cooperative Feed Dealers, and Orgrill.
