August 24 – Forum for Primary Election Candidates

The League of Women Voters of Cortland County is sponsoring a public forum for candidates engaged in city primary races on Wednesday, August 24 in the County Office Building auditorium.
Local candidates who will be listed on the September 13th ballot are mayoral contenders Brian Tobin and incumbent Mayor Susan Feiszli, and, for Common Council representatives: John Bennett, Jr., Ernest L. Case III and Cassandra Schneider in Ward 3, David Funk and Gerald Ruggiero in Ward 5, and Linda A. Ferguson and challenger Troy M. Beckwith in Ward 7. All candidates have been invited to attend and speak at the forum, with a question and answer session to follow.
To vote in the primary election, an individual must be registered in the party of the candidates on the ballot. Registration may be accomplished by mail or in person at the County Board of Elections on River Street, Cortland. Registration forms are available on line at the league’s website: www.lwvny.org and the NYS Board of Elections: www.elections.state.ny.us
The last day to register for September’s primary is August 19, in person or postmarked by mail. An absentee ballot application must be postmarked by September 6. The forum is schedules for 7:00 PM; the COB auditorium in located on the second floor at 60 Central Avenue in Cortland. An elevator is available.
