Lane’s Yamaha Inc. – 45 Years & 3 Generations of Motorcycling Enthusiasts
Posted by Dustin Horton // April 1, 2017 // Local Business
The business was started in 1973 on state route 414 by Eugene Lane, his brother Calvin Lane worked for him for 3 years, then he and Malcolm bought the business from Eugene. In 1979 Malcolm and Calvin moved the shop to 3500 state route 14, where it remains today.
All three of the Lanes raced enduros, flat track, and motocross. Calvin had the most success with motorcycle racing, he went on to get his AMA Pro license in motocross. He also was the first rider to win the Alligator Enduro on a Yamaha. Malcolm had most of his success in car racing. Where he won 6 consecutive Empire Super Sprint championships.
The next generation of Craig and Keith Lane have also competed in all aspects of motorcycle racing from motocross, hare scrambles, trials, speedway and flat track. Craig has also raced Sprint cars, late models and street stocks. Keith had much success in the other types of racing he also competed in. Keith has raced 270 and 600cc mini sprints, trucks, and late models. The third generation, Trenton Lane, has raced in GNCC and WNYOA hare scramble events. He also enjoys riding street motorcycles with the rest of the family.
Calvin and Malcolm have both retired and the second generation is running the shop now. Keith is the general manager and Craig is the head mechanic and mentor for the other mechanics. With Craig’s vast history, such as a stint as the head mechanic for top AMA Pro road racer Jason Disalvo. He can build any level of performance that a customer needs. Between Ron, Keith, and Craig they have a combined 90 plus years of mechanical experience. At Lane’s Yamaha the team strives to treat every customer with respect and like family.
