Action Sports Has Moved!

Action Sports Bike and Ski, Cortland’s only bicycle and cross-country ski shop, has moved from 85 Main Street to 64 Pendleton Street, Cortland, across from Cortland Seafood and between Button’s Automotive Repair and Sherman Wholesale Tire. After renting for nearly sixteen years at the Main Street location, we were given the opportunity to purchase the commercial property at 64 Pendleton Street. God blessed us for our time on Main Street and for answered prayer for ownership. We are very happy to be at our new location!
We purchased the building through Heritage Realty with Dana Decker, who was helpful and easy to work with. We spent several weeks painting and cleaning and getting the space ready for the move. Meldrim’s Paint Center mixed up a special Specialized red color, which has its own paint formula. Being Specialized dealers, we thought it would be cool to paint some of the interior walls with the same color as Specialized Bicycles. We packed up the old store, piece by piece, and started making many trips to the new location. On Friday, April 22, 2016, we had our last day of business on Main Street and on the next day, 26 people arrived to help us move. It was awesome having all these wonderful hard-working people! They carried boxes, store fixtures, furniture, skis and bikes onto trucks and trailers that they brought. Everyone worked like a well-orchestrated team getting the job done. There were no slackers ’cause this bunch knows how to work. Matt and I are so very appreciative for everyone’s awesome and wonderful help and friendship! Thank you to all! It will not be forgotten.
The showroom is about the same size as the space we had on Main Street except it’s shaped more like a square. We don’t have the high ceiling of the old store but this will help cut down on heating costs in winter. We purchased tiered bicycle display racks and are in the process of purchasing stands for displaying road bikes on the showroom floor. We have a room for inventory and a separate room for the repair shop. We even have a full kitchen, which already has several bikes in it and there is a basement for additional storage. Our yard has already been ridden on by a customer who was trying out a mountain bike and another customer took a test spin down the nearby road. Both bikes were purchased. We think customers will like unloading their bikes (and skis in winter) for service here better than at our old address. We feel like we have a bit of country right here in the middle of the city.
We invite you to stop by and say ‘Hi!’ The phone number will be the same number…607.753.9612. Our first day of business was Thursday, April 28, 2016. We are still closed on Sundays and Tuesdays as always. Our hours are 10-5:30 and on Saturday 10-3. Feel free to check us out on Facebook and see the photos of our progress.
We hope to continue serving the cycling and ski communities of Cortland and surrounding areas with Specialized Bicycles, Alpina Cross-Country Skis and Northern Lites Snowshoes and accessories, service, and kindness from our new location of 64 Pendleton Street, Cortland.
The 2017 Specialized bicycles are about to make their debut. We will be placing our preseason order soon. That means our Cycle For Fitness sale is coming up. It will start on Friday, August 12 and go until Saturday, August 20. All 2016 Specialized bicycles will be 15% OFF. Plan to stop in and check out some good deals!
See you soon!
