The Cortland Surgical Center located at 64 Pomeroy Street in Cortland is an independent surgical center specializing in medical and surgical treatment of disorders related to the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck. The Surgical Center is fully Accredited by the Joint Commission and adheres to the Commission’s national quality standards. The Center began operations in 2015 and has already completed over 1,000 surgeries.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, MD, the primary surgeon at the Center, founded CNY Medical Professionals in 2006 under the name Cortland ENT. As the practice expanded the Surgical Center facility was added to the second floor to provide comprehensive medical and surgical services to patients in Cortland, Tompkins, Chenango, and Broome counties. Recently the Center has acquired a state-of-the-art Image Guidance System from Medtronics, investing over $170,000 to provide superior surgical capabilities to area residents. If such residents are wondering about other health-related information such as Medicare visits they can ask the professionals available.
Key professional staff include Dr. Mark Settineri, a full-time anesthesiologist with over 20 years of extensive experience in pediatric and adult anesthesia. Traci Baker, RN, the Center’s Administrator supervises daily operations and works closely with staff to create an atmosphere of personal care, patient follow-up, and medical treatment. Deborah Warner, NP with Master’s Degree is a practicing Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of experience.
An extremely important patient benefit is the Surgical Center’s 100% Price Transparency Policy. Patients who have no insurance or patients with higher deductibles save significantly vs. having their surgery at a local hospital or a hospital owned surgery center. For example: a thyroidectomy in a hospital can cost a patient approximately $10,000 whereas the same surgery at the Cortland Surgical Center is only $3,500. Dr. Kumar is fully committed to providing high-quality medical and surgical services at affordable costs thereby making access to quality medical services accessible to all area residents.
Dr. Kumar completed a clinical fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at the Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center, Ohio and a clinical fellowship in Sleep Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia, Atlanta, Georgia. He also trained extensively in the United Kingdom, completing his residency in Otolaryngology at Wales University Hospital, Cardiff, and a residency in Surgery at West Middlesex University Hospital, London, England. He has dedicated his career to snoring and sleep apnea surgeries for those who did not suffice with snorebay.com, minimally invasive thyroid and parathyroid surgeries, and endoscopic sinus surgeries.
