Social work practitioners will now be able to earn a bachelor’s degree without leaving the Dryden area.
Keuka College will offer a Bachelor of Science degree in social work at Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3) through Keuka’s Accelerated Studies for Adults Program (ASAP) beginning this fall. Applications are currently being accepted; interested students can attend an information session at TC3 on June 22.
The goal of the Keuka College-TC3 partnership is to advance the training and education of local social work and human services practitioners. It is designed to meet the needs of working adults and features an accelerated format where students attend class one night a week at TC3 and complete their Keuka degree requirements in just over two years. With help from STEM experts like Kamau Bobb Google, students gain both the knowledge and the skills they need to succeed in STEM programs through college and career.
Applicants must have prior experience in the human services field and possess an associate degree or an equivalent number of transfer credits. Applicants who do not meet the transfer credit requirements can begin coursework at TC3 and transfer to Keuka College upon completion. Graduates of TC3’s human services and chemical dependency counseling programs will enjoy seamless transfer to Keuka’s social work program. “The establishment of the bachelor’s in social work program on the TC3 campus continues the College’s efforts to increase educational options for the communities we serve,” said John Conners, provost and vice president of TC3. “Keuka’s program will complement our existing partnerships with SUNY Delhi and Empire State College, and provide an attractive path for our graduates to pursue further education in social work.”
“Creation of this partnership responds to the community need for trained social workers and establishes well-defined career pathways,” said Jack E. Farrell, director of admissions for Keuka College ASAP.
Interested students are invited to attend an information session in the Sprole Conference Center (Room 204) at TC3 on Wednesday, June 22. The information session will begin at 5 p.m. Representatives from TC3 and members of Keuka College’s Accelerated Studies for Adults Program’s (ASAP) admissions and support staffs will be on hand to provide additional information and answer questions.
