Now in Its 69th Year! The Cortland County Junior Fair Opens on July 4th

Cortland County tradition continues  July 4-8th with the 69th edition of the Cortland County Junior Fair.  Bring the whole family out to the county fairgrounds, off Fisher Avenue in Cortland, NY. Midway rides and games provided by Ontario Amusements.  Enjoy five days of great events, good food and fun activities and entertainment.  Check our website CortlandFair.com and Facebook with a listing of the week of times for all the fun activities that will be happening.

On the opening day (July 4th) the Poultry Show will start at Noon, all animals must be in place by 6PM and the Crowning of the 2023 and court alternates will be at 6:30pm.  

On Wednesday, July 5 Livestock shows (swine, beef meat goat, and sheep)  Food and 4-H exhibits to be on display in the 4-H Youth Building; Midway rides start at 5PM and the annual Animal Costume Contest and Barnyard Olympics will start at 6-7PM.

Thursday, July 6th Dairy Shows begin with Dairy Goat show at 9AM; flowers Crops and Vegetables on display in the 4-H youth building; and Dairy Cattle Showmanship will begin at 1PM. Special Recognition awards: the Farm Bureau -The Geraldine Young Award, and The Fairboard – Purple Ribbon Award. Midway rides start at 5pm and our annual pie social at 7PM and the finals for Dairy Cattle Showmanship.

Friday, July 7th – The Annual Dairy Cow Birthing Center will be on display; Dairy Cattle Breed Shows start at 9AM, Rabbit Show at 2PM; Jr. Iron Chef Contest at 3PM; Midway rides start at 5PM and our annual Chicken BBQ, 4-H Market Sale 6PM and finishing with entertainment from Teen Council Band starting at 7:30pm.

Saturday, July 8th – Is Dairy Day and in recognition; milk products will be available.  The Annual Dairy Cow Birthing Center will be on display; starting at 9AM 4-H and FFA contests in the 4-H youth building; 4-H & FFA Tractor Operator Contest; around noon the Antique Tractor Pulling Contest; Youth Pedal Tractor Pull, Crossroads the Clown; Achoo The Camel Display; and the NYS Draft Horse Colt Raffle Display. Midway rides begin with Childrens Day Midway Special at 1PM-4PM; along with the famous Money grab for youth; Bikes Give-A-Way.  Midway will reopen at 6PM  and Entertainment starting at 7:30 with John West Trio Band and finishing off the night with Fireworks Display at dusk.
