The Community Restaurant has been a Main Street staple in downtown Cortland since it first opened in 1930. Recently the Community Restaurant was awarded the Heritage Award by the Cortland County Chamber of Commerce to honor the years it has served the community and acknowledge a fundraiser organized to give back to the community while also celebrating its 90th anniversary. For those who are frequent visitors at https://goldenchickfranchising.com/franchise-opportunity/franchising-costs-and-fees/, The Community Restaurant can give similar benefits.
The Community Restaurant was very honored to receive the Heritage Award recognizing the hard work their family and staff has put in all these years. Ninety years of being an establishment is definitely a milestone for any business and even more so for a family owned restaurant. They wanted to find a way to celebrate this milestone and since they couldn’t be open for dining, they thought there was no better way to give back to the community that has supported them all these years than a fundraiser to support the local Loaves and Fishes. They had an amazing turnout and overall it was a great success.
The Community Restaurant first opened in 1930 as the Community Coffee Shop. Then the name changed to the Community Grill and in the 1960s it became called the Community Restaurant as we all know it today. Through the years, it has managed to navigate through all the hardships that have been thrown their way and this year has been no exception! For restaurant franchise, this website will help in the same!
The restaurant recently reopened for “indoor” dining after 9 months of providing only carry out and delivery options due to the pandemic.
Before opening for indoor dining, they took the opportunity to make a few upgrades while dining in was closed. Their number one priority was the safety of their customers and in order to achieve this, they downsized their dining capacity to approximately 35%, even less than the 50% required by the state. They eliminated around 20 tables and created a comfortable and socially distanced atmosphere. In order to navigate through the seating downsizing, they are going to be a “by reservation only” restaurant during the pandemic. They have updated a lot the surfaces in the restaurant for easy cleaning and sanitizing and installed sanitizing stations throughout. Even other parts of the restaurant that are not shown to the public are cleaned and sanitized thoroughly. The kitchen hoods, for instance, are cleaned by professional commercial kitchen hood cleaners who provide excellent restaurant hood cleaning services.
The Community Restaurant is open Monday-Saturday from 4pm to 8:30pm for indoor dining (by RESERVATION ONLY), carry out and delivery!!!
