Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the world, accounting for one out of every three cancer diagnoses. Despite our mild summers and cloud cover, here in central New York, skin cancer is a serious risk. We receive about 75% of San Diego’s UV radiation exposure, yet many do not use enough sun protection to avoid tanning and burning.
Each year at Dermatology Associates of Ithaca, thousands of skin cancers and precancerous lesions are treated and cured. The practice places a large emphasis on prevention with annual full skin exams with an experienced dermatology provider and regular daily use of SPF 30+ all year. While wait times across central New York can be as long as 9 months, Dermatology Associates of Ithaca has been able to streamline their practice to offer quality dermatologic care while shortening wait times to under 1 week.
Dr. Josephine C. McAllister is a board-certified, Harvard trained dermatologist who has selectively chosen and mentored her team of five Physician Assistants with a mission to make dermatologic care more accessible to patients. They are excited to welcome patients to their new office, conveniently located in Cortland at 3773 Luker Road.
